Be a great team player and be willing to eat shit for a month and like it. As a sub-I, the best you can really do is show that you'll be the person who is reliably up-to-date on the patients and is willing to do whatever the team needs you to do. You aren't going to be making the management plans, clipping the aneurysms, etc. Show that you are easy to get along with and will do whatever your resident asks without question. True for most places, but especially more traditionally hierarchical places like UCSF.
