The group will still take residents, but won't be operating at the hospital that houses the residency program from what I understand. Also heard a lot of residents are leaving. It's a shame, especially given that it used to be such a strong program.
That is a shame. Not looking so good anymore. Hopefully they’ll fix things sonnet than later.

Sorry, I know it’s not an interview invite post, but I think still relevant as we are should be informed about programs as we go about interviewing and making ranking decisions this cycle.
Did a sub-I at MGH, chairman/PD openly discussed and explained the situation. MGH has been showing caseloads for their PGY7s that didn't justify 3 residents per year. This was due to the fact that they traditionally graduated their residents early so that they would be the attendings on record for cases on the North service, and as attendings they were ineligible to log cases thru ACGME. It's more of an accounting fluke than anything else. They have restructured PGY7 and expect to get back to 3 per year and backfill spots.
Even with the adjustment, they do not have the volume for 3 per year.

Not sure. When I interviewed there they showed their case logs and it was pretty impressive.

I think it was something like 3,000+/year for their main site, and they're a 2/3 program with an additional children's hospital, military hospital, and 2 associated private hospitals which were NOT included in that number.

Is that with GK/SRS & all Endo (DX + TX) procedures?
