Interview Invites 2018-2019
This could be the most important post for future applicants to read. “Check out this one easy trick to tank your application!”

How many letters do you have in, only from home or from aways also? Anything to demonstrate long-standing interest? I’m about 10 points lower and have 8 IV and 2 WL and those are the things I’ve heard app reviewers bitch about applicants this year for.

Apparently the personal statement du jour from a year or two ago was “the first time I saw the DBS lead turned on,” and it generated similar angst amongst program directors when they read the (legitimately) ~75-100th application with that statement lol
Did you all just reply to GW through ERAS messages?

How do you view rejections?
I view them as I’d rather get rejected than score a pity interview and waste my time and money to be number 60 on their rank list.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I made this post. Third rec was uploaded 10/1 after my second away and I felt like I did good for both of them. Chairman of my home program gave me the go ahead for my personal statement and it was pretty normal, nothing cringey. So ya... I don’t get it

How many programs did you apply to? A lot of probably screen out <3 LORs, so if you just had your last one uploaded about a week ago, then a lot of programs probably missed seeing your app. How confident are you that you'd match your home program? Keep hope friend.

Thanks for that, although I meant, how do you actually find out if you've been rejected from a given program, if in fact that has happened?
