We are ultimately left to draw inadequate conclusions from insufficient data. Don't harp on the stats. You'll gain little from it.

Your apps are in. It's out of your control. Just sit back, take a big deep breath, and know that it will be ok. Life is very long; our careers are only a fraction of our lives, and we're doing NSG because we are driven enough, talented enough, intelligent enough to do it. We will become neurosurgeons, even if it takes us another year or two, God forbid. Just keep your sights on the long-term goals, treat your fellow colleagues and collaborators with respect in this forum, and help each other out. We're all in this together!

The fact of the matter is that no interviews by end of September is virtually a death sentence for the interview cycle. Just an FYI

How does this make sense knowing that majority of programs (e.g. n=77 last year) send their invites in october-november?

I went on 12 interviews. I dont believe it is a true numbers game. Technically it may be. But save that money folks. Factor in $500 for each interview minimum. All is takes, and all I needed, was a senior well-known mentor making a call. I would say > 15 interviews is not critical

Hi

I matched at a top 10 program that I didn’t Sub-I at

I didn’t have any interviews at the end of September

You’re a fourth year med student. Stop giving advice that isn’t true.

Man, a lot of your class really isn’t looking great on these forums so far, what with all the whining and infighting going on plus BS like this.

Not all of us are like this....kinda embarrassed tbh...

Like we're all applying to neurosurgery, we all have similar interests and think neurosurgery is the coolest and best field out there, we're gonna be colleagues one day guys. Lets all just chill a bit..

Agreed.  The application process and the job are hard enough, why do we have to make it harder on each other?

Can we switch this interview invites thread to the Facebook page? I doubt we'd have so much negativity if people's names/faces are right next to their comments.
