For those that have recently undergone the job hunt or who get regular recruitment emails, what’s in high demand right now? Are community hospitals asking for certain fellowship experience? What’s the job market look like for non-spine and non-endovascular trained neurosurgeons?
Spine, endovascular, and general. Job market is great for all three. Fair amount of community centers looking for post grad fellowship for spine these days, but still easy to find ones that don’t

Also, while many community hospitals want fellowship training, that doesn't mean that's what they get. I would feel zero pressure regarding that. Many of them have no conception of the ancillary services required to set up and maintain complex spinal deformity practice. They simply see the dollar bills and say yes, we want that but our shocked when you want a boatload of hardware, specialist techs, and a comprehensive rehabilitation affiliate.
I would agree with the above. Currently job searching and having a post grad spine fellowship is a plus that places love to hear, however many places are just happy to find someone regardless. You are the commodity not the positions for now.
Places (private practice and academic) are always looking for spine tbh

Too true. Open vascular, as well as skull base, going the way of the dodo
What about functional? Job prospects are bleak for academic spots but what about your community DBS/SCS guy who also does general.
