To be honest, it is a great program. Super friendly residents who make the experience so much better. Above average case volume. Tons of sub-i teaching. They've restricted their sub-i program and it was equivalent to the "upper echelon" programs I also did sub-internships at.
They are among the best in terms of basic science research, but just average in clinical research. They've hired a few new faculty who are clinical research studs, so hopefully that will help boost the program. Overall, I think this program is among the best in the nation. Residents seem happy as a cohort, and enjoy hanging out together. Very well balanced. If you like tumors, this is likely the premiere tumor program in the nation. A down side is living in durham, which is actually a fun young professional town. I enjoyed my month at duke and would be ecstatic to match here!
