Why did Dan Gilbert choose Henry Ford for his son?
#1
I know nothing, and I'm sure Dr. Kalkanis and Dr. Lee are amazing surgeons, but can anyone explain to me why Dan Gilbert wouldn't choose to bring his son to some higher profile team of surgeons? I mean, he's a billionaire, he could probably go anywhere and get an appointment ASAP.

Because there's a value in recovering close to home with family and friends that outweighs the difference in technical skill of a better surgical team hundreds of miles away.

Like you said, you know nothing. Who would be higher profile than Dr. Kalkanis? Maybe Sanjay Gupta or Dr. Oz?

Maybe you should take a look at the guys credentials....

This is hilarious. Dr. Kalkanis is one of the most respected tumor surgeons in the world, but because Henry Ford isn't in the top 10 on doximity you think he got sub-par care?

You guys are foolish if you think the surgeon's ability are the only factors that contribute to care.  There is a reason why hospitals with good quality staff are better hospitals.

But if you stroke a patient out, it doesn't matter how nice their facilities are. I do agree that it does complement great operative skills.

Tumor isn't vascular, it is cutting a chunk of steak out of someone's brain.  If you stroke them out you did it wrong.
