Pre-residency Fellowship
#11
Do NOT do these pre-residency fellowships. They are predatory, and will ruin ur career. They do not have good records of matching into neurosurgery residency

Thoughts on clinical fellowships as international neurosurgeon before applying to residency in the US ?

Sounds horrible. Thank you for letting us know. Horrible that people do this.

I saw Iowa matched his pre-residency fellow this year, though.
Any comments on advisable PRFs? Also, any non-recommended ones? (It seems like Lahey is one of them)

I think Mt. Saini also matched one.

Pre-residency fellows from much more reputable places than Lahey have trouble matching. Avoid at all costs.

Pointing to a single example of an individual who matched from one of these disgusting programs isn’t making the point you think you’re making. It’s an anecdote. Applicants should do a prelim/transitional year, at least that counts towards ur residency progression. It’s a no brainer

These are modern day slavery! Avoid at all costs. On top of insane work hours, NO training , you will be treated so badly, it will scar you for life buddy…

Some people just don't have the intellectual gifts to be a neurosurgeon. It's a field that you are born into. People shouldn't force themselves into a field they don't belong into. We have family medicine, psych, and IM for that. Same goes for DO/Caribbean students who don't belong in medical school along with low tier MD students.
