Seems like your particular qualms are with deadlifting, in which case I'd agree. The risk to reward ratio is too high. Romanian deadlifts, rack pulls are probably safer.
Also, you can't go you entire life being scared. Wouldn't want a surgeon who's a coward.

They're obviously trolling. Going well below the speed limit puts you more at risk on the road than driving normally/defensively

10-20% below normal is very safe, as most people's reaction time is much slower than they think it to be. Lower speed also increases defensive driving. Also, if you live in the South, the speed limit is often in the 70s, which is actually very dangerious. If you do the math, it comes up to like a few minutes longer commute but its worth it, IMO.
