Sub-i season is here. So let's hear some stories, either first hand or stuff you've heard, good or bad, do's and dont's

  Greenberg for sub-i's
Posted by: Myelomeningocele - 05-30-2018, 09:07 PM - Forum: Sub-internships - Replies (1)

Any recommendations on which chapters of Greenberg would be particularly high yield to read in preparation for sub-i's? (I don't have time to read the entire volume, just wanting to get a good basis of info then I'll continue reading while on rotations!)

AIs you need a car for?

Anyone know which which institutions you need a car/Uber/public transit at to get between hospitals on sub-internship rotations? UW and Miami have been mentioned in the past

Spreadsheet for ranking programs on interviews
Posted by: Guest - 05-26-2018, 03:50 PM - Forum: On the trail - No Replies

I was thinking about creating a spreadsheet to evaluate all the programs I will be interviewing at on the trail.  I'm sure others have done this before,  and grading programs can be quite helpful when it comes down to ranking them.  Anyone care to share their approach to this?

  Duty hours

I'm on a subI now and they routinely have the medical student violate duty hours.  Who do I report this to?

  M4 Rotations for Fun
Posted by: Guest - 05-25-2018, 08:34 AM - Forum: How to prep for applications - Replies (2)

Fourth year scheduling season is happening for a lot of us, anyone take any interesting rotations their fourth year that they would recommend, either for fun or as good prep for intern year?

Sub-I's that interview you during it
Posted by: Guest - 05-23-2018, 08:16 PM - Forum: On the trail - Replies (1)

One of my sub-I's is doing my interviews  during my month on service so I guess I won't be interviewing with the pack later on.  Should I try to go back for a second look since so much time will have passed from the time I finish my rotation till the time they actually submit their rankings?

  How to choose Subspeicality/Fellowship
Posted by: subspecialty - 05-23-2018, 10:12 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

I like all aspects of neurosurgery, but I realistically know that it is pretty much required to subspecialize. Any advice from chief residents/young attendings on how you chose your subspecialty?

  Interview Dates
Posted by: Guest - 05-23-2018, 10:02 AM - Forum: On the trail - Replies (2)

I hear that a lot of interviews overlap and sometimes one gets offered interviews at multiple places on the same date. Do programs let you switch with other people?  For those who just went through the match,  was that an option and if so,  was it easy to do?  Thank you!
