  Fellowships for foreign trained graduates
Posted by: quackdock - 11-12-2018, 09:43 AM - Forum: Fellowship application - Replies (9)

Hi , i'm a neurosurgery resident in India , my residency ends in August 2018 and i'm looking to subspecialise in cerebrovascular/ endo vascular and skull base .

The problem is that there doesnt seem to be too much information on how to go aboout getting a fellowship as a foreign trained resident . can some one help clear in the blanks . Most of the sites i have visited usually mention a licencing requirement . I am aware that i have to go through the entire USMLE process but beyond that im completely lost .  Any help would be greatly appreciated

What are a few countries where neurosurgery research is really ground breaking? And in what subspecialties? Would be cool to go to a country like Switzerland and work with some great minds.

What is the the name of the procedure called, when the neurosurgeon uses a syringe to pull fluid out of  the brain tissue? Not cerebral spinal fluid.

  MD PHD in grad years
Posted by: whynsgy - 10-17-2018, 10:03 AM - Forum: How to prep for applications - Replies (2)

I'm an MD/PhD student that's going to be separated from all things clinical for x-many years, wondering if there's anything I should be doing extra during these years to maintain some sort of competitiveness (?) and keep showing attendings/department heads that I'm actually still interested in neurosurgery.

My plan is to keep scrubbing cases every now and then, get together with residents for a few clinical research papers every so often, and go to department grand rounds/journal clubs as often as I can.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!
