Duke thinks they are a top 10 program but have very mediocre residents. Can’t match anyone from Northeast or west coast elite programs. Have fun managing floor as PGY-3 and watching Friedman operate as chief if you match here. John Sampson is definitely a beast NIH funding wise but 0 residents involved with his research. Haglund kept the program relevant but really going to depreciate under Fecci. Heard he gave out interviews this year based on irrelevant things such as undergraduate major, hobbies, etc.

Generally 4-7 applicants at each. It’s a very personalized experience. You put on scrubs, go observe cases, walk around and get a feel for the place, and interview with attendings and PGY-5s when you get a chance.
The PGY-5’s run the show. They invite applicants and make the rank list with very little (to none) to attending input.
