I've actually found myself in quite similar situation when receiving an email from a program I applied to while driving and had to pull over to respond... And I thought about it already before, what would I do if this happens while I'm driving or seeing patients or in the OR..? This whole process is organized in an unhealthy and dangerous way. In addition, program coordinators not responding to e-mails for days in this situation is just unacceptable and irresponsible.

Thanks for suggesting that article! It was a nice quick read and highlights just how ridiculous the interview notification process is. This past Thursday, I was driving home from my rotation when I heard the familiar sound I have just for my email account. I saw an email from ERAS and immediately tried to pull over. However, it was the peak of rush hour and I was stuck in a construction zone. When I finally got a chance to pull over 10 min later, I was panicking that I had missed the window to schedule the interview. It turned out to just be a rejection from a program, but it could have easily been an invite. I'm sure many of you can relate.
