I've heard of quite a bit of people with very few interviews. It might be a result of this year's higher competition/more applicants. I don't think anyone will be able to precisely predict. It will depend on how good relationship you have with those few programs and if any of them will rank you highly.

Thanks for the insight everyone. I am reaching out to my advisor for further direction. Might not be in the cards for me, but I also think it’s too early to tell, and I’m not giving up. I still have yet to get an invite from one of my subIs. I feel if I were not a good applicant, someone would have told me by now. Thanks everyone again!

At least from the NBME 2018 Charting Outcomes stats, the "mean number of contiguous ranks" (i.e. the mean number of interviews you had to make a sufficient rank list) was 16.4... That's at least for a 90% probability of matching. Not saying that 5 or 6 invites isn't going to get you to that point, but the data should give you an idea about your confidence level moving forward. May want to look at other options as well. Good luck.

I think that 5-6 II if you KNOW you're a strong interviewer can be enough.  A lot of applicants can be really great on paper, but fall flat in person.  A strong interview can overcome a lot.

Well that is encouraging to hear. I will work on my interview skills and try to be as prepared as possible to do well. Thanks! Good luck everyone!

260s on Step1/2, all honors, AOA. HHMI with some strong basic science papers. At a decent but by no means at a top 10/ivy school.

I take it you have gotten interviews at just about everywhere you have applied though?

Let it go bro - doesn't affect you at all. Why you sympathy-hunting?
