But btw I do agree they need to stay in their scope of practice and not consider themselves doctors (that one particular post made the claim that they have the same capabilities and that's completely ridiculous), but the overarching issue is an applicant calling out a PA for having the "audacity" to be present at an interview for people that PA will be working closely with if they match
At the end of the day, none of those people she interviewed are going to get matched there (unless the person speaks up), but I expect Bendok to have a conversation with this Sarah person. There was absolutely no reason to make a public sob story (which, let's be honest, was done only for the Twitter likes). Plus it seems like she has a history of making insinuating posts like that.
Now, the news is has spread like wildfire across social media, and if Mayo Arizona does anything too rash they can easily get in trouble with the ACGME, which I'm pretty sure Bendok does not want to happen. Not to mention, this whole thing has put this website on relatively public attention, and there PLENTY of other institutions mentioned in other threads here with blatant violations of ACGME guidelines.

I literally cannot imagine anyone posting anything more shortsighted than the above - and I'm on neurosurgeryhub for fucks sake. Get in trouble with the ACGME, for what? Responding to an inflammatory post that called her out by name and then proceeded to dox her, all in the name of putting someone down who you are supposed to be calling a future colleague? At least she has the balls to sign her name after her posts. I have no doubt in my mind that Mayo (and many programs like it) are going to start including midlevel staff in their ranking meetings because let's face it, no one wants to work with the likes of any of you dweebs with a god complex

You're not going to change the minds of the vast majority of doctors (including neurosurgery residents) on this. You can act as morally righteous as you want, but midlevels should not be interviewing applicants for physician jobs in any capacity, just like a nurse should not be running the NRMP. Could that person have been more tactful in how they posted it? Absolutely, but the original point still stands. If you go to other sources that people have mentioned, you'll see the dozens of responses from residents that show just how unpopular this is.
Second, you keep name dropping Mayo without specifying that this is the Arizona campus, which didn't even have a residency program 2 years ago. Obviously, midlevels might play a bigger role at your program since you literally only have 2 actual residents. This much ado about nothing affects only a small proportion of applicants and I guarantee you that top tier places like ours won't be including any midlevels in rank meetings. Instead of wasting everyone's time with this hissy fit why don't you go back to providing actual valuable information to current applicants?
