| How difficult is neurosurgery compared to other surgical fields? |

As stated in the title of the post, how difficult is neurosurgery compare to a field like general surgery, plastics, ortho, etc. I know that mainstream culture has the perception that neurosurgery is a highly complex and intricate field. However, I'm curious if that is actually true? I've had the chance to observe gen surg, ENT, and neurosurg cases during med school. However, it's still difficult for me to gauge the relative "difficulty" of these fields as I'm not actually the one wielding the knife. I recently asked a plastics resident this same question and he stated that plastics is more difficult due to the broader anatomy that he works with. However, there's obviously an element of bias there.

| Will acceptance become EASIER in the upcoming years?? |

So here's the thing:
Many gen Z and millennials want a good lifestyle. They don't want to work surgeon hours. So many top applicants are not even applying to surgery.
Also, the number of spots is increasing, because of the larger population growth.
As a result, acceptance into neurosurgery will become easier.

They got accreditation again after just 2 years which is impressive. New leadership. Are there still issues with too much trauma not enough diverse pathology
Looks like the barrow pgy1 who resigned went there (what was the deal with him leaving anyway??)

Hey guys, was just wondering if people could provide some input on Emory as a program for residents. How well does it prepare the residents for the various subspecialties in neurosurgery? How are the faculty mentors for the different sub-specialties and would you be set up strongly for a career in either academics or private practice if you go there? What are general thoughts on the culture, operative autonomy, and relative perception in relation to say a highly academic program like Penn, MGH versus more clinically-focused programs? Just trying to guage on which part of the spectrum it is with regards that question.

Anyone at that place or know people who are their?
Is it really all that it's cracked up to be? So I was looking at the research and a lot of it was just like "Retrospective review of XYZ in patients with ABC" type of thing. But I also assume lots of good research goes on as well? How are the hours like, are they really less than 80/week?
It seems like the Number 1 program but does anyone know for certain?
Thank you?
