3rd year med student here worried about fiancials. Very interested in neurosurgery but I will have over $400,000 in debt from undergrad and med school (dont come from a wealthy family) Interested in neuro-oncology. What is the job prospect and starting salary for a neurosurgeon in neurooncology? Internet sources are so varied. About how much does each resident pay per month during residency on student loans (lets assume average medical debt is $250,000) ? How much are starting bonuses? Do residents get starting bonuses? Is it possible to buy a house during residency with this much loans?

Going to start residency soon. I'm 28 but my GF is 18. Thankfully we live in the same city. Wonder how much time I'll be able to spend with her? Do you guys have tips?

I just got an email from SNS for 2021 away rotation guidance. It seems that they dont really want us to do aways according for Recommendation 1. Would this hurt app if you still do an away even against recommendation from SNS?

Was curious if anyone had any input regarding this discrepancy for 2022-2023 match. At my home institution (and many others in the US), members of the class of 2023 (current MS2's) will be taking Step 1 in the Spring of 2021 while it is still formally scored. However, there are many institutions whose members of the class of 2023 will be taking it in the Spring of 2022 following their MS3 year. With this in mind, when our class applies to residency, there will be some students applying with a three digit score, and others with P/F.

I am an M3 seeking to get better at operative neuroanatomy and slowly improve my ability to identify structures in operative video. There are tons of resources out there (Rhoton slides, Neurosurgical Atlas, MSNTC videos, etc.) but I was wondering what do people recommend as the most systematic way for me as a beginner to improve my anatomy skills?
