  Functional neurosurgeon compensation

I'm still in training but I've heard functional pays really badly. Does anyone know what people in PP and academics who have functional make up a substanial part of their practice are making?

  Failed for the third time
Posted by: ABNS - 07-06-2020, 11:35 PM - Forum: ABNS - Replies (4)

I guess it's not the first but pretty uncommon. Failing for self-assessment on multiple attempts and now have to take it for credit. Any recommendations on how to pass at least? Apparently SANS questions are not enough even though I solved all modules +700 questions.

Citow and Pssarows seem very dense and memorizing won't work well because board questions were very specific even if you came across the idea before.

Would really appreciate recommendations on how to pass this nightmare

  Social Media Editor

Is it just me or is everyone in residency suddenly a social media editor for this or that neuro journal or society? Appearances are starting to matter more than substance.

Yes, I’m a hater

Curious if anyone has insight into how 1st author reviews are seen - honestly I think they're pretty fluff.

Carolinas Medical Center Neurosurgery Residency - Virtual Question & Answer Sessions

2021 neurosurgery applicants,

We are sorry for the unfortunate and bizarre reality we all find ourselves in during this pandemic.  This is usually the time of year where are we are looking forward to meeting many of you during the sub-I season and sharing our unique program with you.

For those of you who weren't able to attend the virtual symposium back in May, we wanted to provide more opportunities for you to get to experience our program and get to know our residents.

We will be hosting virtual Question and Answer sessions on the following dates and times.  Please email our program coordinator Ms. Cameron Davis at cameron.davis@atriumhealth.org if you are interested and would like to register for one of the events.  These will be very relaxed and informal.

Thursday July 16th 7pm-8pm ET
Thursday August 6th 7pm-8pm ET
Saturday August 22nd 10am-11am ET

We look forward to meeting you.  I also would be happy to answer any of your questions directly at any time at vrossi89@gmail.com

  Journal clubs/Staying up to date
Posted by: Guest - 07-01-2020, 07:48 PM - Forum: General interest - Replies (12)

Any good websites and resources to stay up to date with the key papers/advances in the field or even some old publications of significant impact? My program doesn't do a good job in journal club so wonder how what residents from other programs do or recommend. I know the easiest way is to browse the JNS, Red journal...etc every month or so but it's cumbersome and sometimes there are no high impact publications

Do your programs have research and publication requirements? What are they and what is the consequence of not achieving them?
