Saw a similar thread last year. Anyone care to share their Top 5 and Bottom 5?

| Letters of rec for Sub-I apps |

How is important is the LOR that some Sub-Is require? Does it have to be from a neurosurgeon?
No home department. I have built a good relationship with a few local neurosurgeons in an unofficial capacity but have an upcoming rotation scheduled where I can hopefully make a strong impression. I feel like asking for a letter now for sub-I apps is a waste because if I need a letter later on for ERAS they will likely submit the same thing instead of making changes after my scheduled rotation.
I have heard of people submitting letters from other specialties, is this acceptable?

Hi everyone,
At the beginning of the year I left my neurosurgery program (I had completed my neurosurgical intern year successfully and in good standing). I ultimately left by choice, though I cannot discuss details on a public forum, obviously. At the time of my decision to leave my program there were no other open neurosurgery residency positions.
I graduated in 2016 from a top US medical school, did well academically, on boards, and during my intern year at a top/very busy New York program. I have been searching since this past July for any vacant PGY2 positions or programs willing to backfill other positions.
I am deeply passionate for neurosurgery and truly want to find my way back to this amazing field. If you know of any open or potential positions, please contact me directly at neurosurgeryapplicant@gmail.com
Thank you

Not surprised that peds is rarely discussed on this site, but still curious. Who are the big names or rising young faculty in peds? Best fellowship programs in your opinion? Future of peds in terms of academics vs. private practice?
Thanks
