225 positions

310 applicants: 235 US Seniors (89% matched), 11 US IMG (0% Matched), 32 Non-US IMg (31% Matched).

IDK what happened with those 33 that were not included (235 + 11 + 32 = 277)

These FMGs should stop feeling so entitled...

Yeah, just look at them, taking away all the residency spots shamelessly.

I do understand the frustration. I am with you, but they deserve some credit as well though IMO. I am from a top 20% program, and IMG researchers applying from our institution have 250+, 30+ pubs, 50+ presentations, over three years of research experience plus five years of clinical experience. Still they are trying to contribute to our country. Personally I don’t think I could become a better neurosurgeon than them, given their work ethic, personality, and diverse life experience. I just respect them. Just putting this out there. Not directed to anyone.

To your point, my institution's IMG has been teaching our residents and medical students and already helped several medical students match into neurosurgery publication-wise, presentation-wise, and skill-wise. I think they deserve it too IF that is what they want.
Maybe after CNS this weekend? Assuming people gonna start dropping interviews and we can get scraps

Does anyone know from prior years if a second wave comes once all first rounds are out as people shuffle interview dates? Or do they just kind of continue to trickle through out the rest of the season?

The interview date shuffle doesn’t really happen as much for the top 30 programs as it does for the mid to low tier programs. As people start pruning their lists for the desirable spots, you’ll hear back from some places. Otherwise expect that barring some twist of fate, if you haven’t heard from the BWHs and Dukes of the world that it’s a done deal. This year seems to be especially weird in that your interviews came out very early (especially barrow) and the overall number of interviews that people on this site are claiming seems to be lower than last year when I matched. Also sounds like sub-is getting automatic interviews is going away. I know my institution is thinking about doing the same thing.
