Letters by ERAS deadline |

Is it mandatory to have 3 letters by 9/15? Will programs interview you with only 2? My third (of four) subI’s won’t be done until the following week and then who knows how fast the chair will have the letter in on top of that. I have two already, wondering if I should ask for another from my last away in order to have 3? Don’t have a home program.
Appreciate your help.

For anyone that either completed or is setting up an enfolded fellowship, who paid your malpractice? Home or away institution?

I had read on the charting the outcomes that the average volunteer experience is 10 and work experience is ; are these necessary to match into neurosurgery or is the trifecta or step 1, research and Lors enough. Would it be enough to match into a mid tier if one had a 250 step one, a few pubs and good lors but no work or volunteer experiences.
THanks guys

If you get a letter from an away, are you supposed to use that letter in your application to that program? What's the point in sending a chair/PD their own opinion on you?
Also, if I have an away ending September 28th am I expected to rush them to submit a letter by Oct 1st? On one hand I already have 4 letters so it's not exactly needed. On the other hand it looks bad to not include a letter from a sub-i...

Hi,
If I were to pursue a PhD and become a neurosurgeon would I predominantly have to do research?
Would I be able to have a 80% percent surgery and 20% research lifestyle? I have Heard that it’s typically 70% research and 30% surgery. I love research and would love it to be imbedded into my career.
Thanks

I am looking for fellowship training opportunities that can be completed during residency. Is anyone aware of programs offering fellowships like this at their institution for residents from other hospitals? Thanks

Hi,
I am a student who is interested in neurosurgery. If you wouldn't mind, can you let me know with the following stats, how many interviews you think I'd get if I applied to all of the programs listed on ERAS.
I got to Ohio State(so i have a home program) and am a top 25%student.
step 1: 252
step 2:258
I have 5 publications, none of which are basic science, but 1 of them is a first author pub and 2 are 3rd author. I also have 4 presentations.
I had mostly honors during clinicals, probably 85%
I'd say my LORs are pretty good
Thank you
P.S. I had seen a post similar to this on the forum from an apparent high schooler but actually feel like an amount of interviews id receive would be a good measurement of how competitive of an applicant I'd be.

Is it true that programs will refuse to rank you, or rank you lower, if you decline to tell them that your ranking them first? I'm hoping to get feedback from people who actually participate in this process and know the answer.
To make it explicit: program B likes student 1 best. Student 1 likes A best, and tells them so. Meanwhile, student 2 likes B best, and tells them so.
Who does B rank higher: 1 or 2?
