Which sub-is don't use VSAS?

Can anyone share their experience doing a Sub-I at OHSU? Thank you!

I like my home program but it is not my number one choice. Do I ask my program director or chair to make phone calls to two of the programs I am interested? I am being recruited to stay and would be happy here.  Do other applicants face this dilemma?

peds (pass), OBGYN (high pass), family (honor), surgery (honor)

I have 7 presentations and 1 basic science publication 

We do not have a home department. 


Please let me know if I have any low to mid tier programs

Who has been getting calls or heard of places giving calls so far?

Anybody have any experience with or insight into the sub-i experience at Buffalo? Haven't found any information on the forums about it and am really interested to hear what people have to say

I know the likelihood of *true* locked spots is low. 

However, might it be helpful to discuss which, if any, spots are locked? 

E.g. 

NYU - 1/3 is locked via NYU's guaranteed spot to internal student. 

UCSF - less certain, but have heard 2/3 spots are close to determined.

The University of Houston has started a new medical school with classes starting in 2020 (I believe).  The schools mandate says its focus is on creating primary care focused doctors.  What would this mean for those students interested in becoming specialist physicians (including neurosurgery)? 

I have noticed a number of schools in the U.S. (East Tennessee also comes to mind) that openly state that their goal is to create primary care physicians.  Is it a disadvantage to attend these type of medical schools for those intending to go into a field as specialized as neurosurgery?

Anybody have any thoughts on what’s going down in Omaha with Puccioni?

Do second looks actually improve your chances of getting into a program or are they a complete waste of time?
