Browsing r/Residency, it seems like mid level encroachment is a real issue. However from a neurosurgical perspective I’ve never heard complaints. What do current residents think about midlevels? Competing for procedures like EVDs, bolts, etc, or helpful to take care of scut/run clinic basically? How involved are they in patient management on the floor/ICU and does this detract from your own learning? Any OR involvement? Thanks

I'm curious to know how those with children and spouses that also work full time fared during residency. Has anyone noticed common patterns among neurosurgeon-parents that are sometimes ignored? I am curious how those who managed to foster a close relationship with their children pulled it off.
I wouldn't be surprised if resident-parents missed their children's first steps, first words, first day at school etcetc. Maybe I'm wrong?

Hello,
I am looking for an atlas some some sort for learning MRI of the brain and spine.
Any websites or books you guys can recommend? A comprehensive resource with basic anatomy (from diff views) would be great.

Whats the deal with pediatric spine?
Seems like its been traditionally dominated by the ortho guys.
Where are some good places to get actual good training in this area?

I am interested to hear about the different call systems especially for small programs 1 or 1-2-1 per year...Is it typical for PGY4 and 5 to take 7 calls per month? How other programs protect their senior residents from primary calls? Night float system? It really sucks to take frequent primary calls during senior years.
