Just wondering what y'all think about the 4-week research away rotation. I would appreciate it if anyone would offer their insight. When would be an appropriate time to do it?

For those that have recently undergone the job hunt or who get regular recruitment emails, what’s in high demand right now? Are community hospitals asking for certain fellowship experience? What’s the job market look like for non-spine and non-endovascular trained neurosurgeons?

Hi everyone! I am interested in what types of resources your residency has (*reliable*) access to for research projects. I'd really appreciate it if you took a minute to fill out this 2-question survey! Thanks for your input!

Current M4 post-match. Was set on NSGY in med school. Decided that the commitment may be too much. Having second thoughts post match- NSGY is really the only field that gets me excited about medicine. What are the chances of getting a spot at this point?

Do PD/residencies care about your background? I feel like everyone I know applying into nsg (and other competitive specialities) are wealthy, went to top private schools before undergrad, parents are successful, etc.
Does it even matter that I went to a mediocre public school and my parents work at jack in the box...

really interested in NSGY but could see myself potentially doing interventional cardiology or neuro IR.
how's the job market for NSGY if I were to go through residency and do a fellowship that isn't spine? (functional or endovascular)? Would like to practice in CT or close to as possible but concerned about job prospects. seems like there's no jobs in the area and fellowships seem competitive to match as well.

Just wondering if anyone knows of any neurosurgeons who practice in both and do elective dbs, pain, epilepsy and taking stroke call etc and some elective coiling. Could do SRS for indications in both. Just wondering as seems like new tech is sort of at an interface between the 2 and seems like most functional surgeons doing 50% other cases (random spine and general call) and likewise for endovasc (lots of spine and occasional open vasc elective cases) so why not just do this combo? 2 years postgrad fellowship if do 1st endovasc year in residency so 2 fellowship years same as peds.
