| Average number of publications counting those in medical school only? |

Any idea how many publications/research experiences the average applicant has from medical school years only? Majority of students have research to get into medical school and I assume most would put that on ERAS.
Non-traditional US-MD, only went to undergrad for 2 years for my first career and never did research, MS3, 258 Step 1.
Seriously considering a gap year even if it means racking up more loans because from what I've seen on charting outcomes and Texas star database 0.00% chance of matching without at least some type of research.

Residents at other programs, how will your program sift through applicants without Step 1, and with the current average Step 2 CK being 240? As a resident I am worried about my program trying to assess an applicant’s acumen. It’s not enough to want to do Neurosurgery, I want colleagues at the top of their game. My co-residents from all different medical school types took and excelled at Step 1.
There’s a culture shift afoot in Neurosurgery and I don’t think it’s all good, or all portends well for the future of our field. Certainly we’ve made necessary strides in wellness, and there are still axes to grind in terms of how residents are treated, but I worry applicants are not being sold the truth of the nature of our field.

Hey friends, I received my score back today and I’m shocked with the result. I was expecting at least 245 and the score came back as 235. Nothing excites me more than a Neurosurg field. I am so devastated right now. I will be applying for the 2023 cycle. I have a decent CV and working on a few Neurosurg research. I really want an honest opinion and I need help. Do I have a shot or do you think I should give up on the Neurosurg? Please help. Thank you in advance!

IMG's have a harder time matching but what about green card holders who are not US citizens?
Long story short, green card expires in 6 months. Have choice to become citizen but I must give up my birth country citizenship. Would I be looked upon unfavorably as a green card holder?
I know for sure that ERAS requires all that information to be provided in demographics. If I renew it would be good for all of residency and a few years after that.
I am a US MD student at a decent (but not top 40) medical school. Lived in US 18 years, English is fluent, but still have foreign name that's a dead giveaway I wasn't born in the US.
