howdie folks,
first of all, good luck on interviews everyone. SUNY Buffalo is my home program, and I'm interested in the overall idea of the guys that got invited here. I get that no one wants to completely expose themselves (which is very likely if given enough details), but just a range on some parameters like pubs/presentations, scores, LORs and where you did your aways...etc. I'd really appreciate it because I wanna see if there's much of a difference between what I'm told and what's really happening (likely none).

Submitted an abstract that's a digital poster; what else do I do at the conference? Is it difficult to network? Personal experiences welcome.

What is the process for sending updates to programs, i.e. manuscripts etc. Do you email PDs or PCs directly, or ask your med school admin to email them?
Also, is this a good idea?

Do neurosurgery programs send out rejections this early or ever if they are not going to consider you at all? I have friends in other specialties getting rejections already.

I recently got my step 1 score back and did very poorly, 226. I don't finish 3rd year until July and I am debating on going to subI's in July, Aug, Sept vs Step 2 in July and sub i Aug, Sept, Oct.
Any one with a low Step 1 this year and high Step 2 getting interviews. I feel that Step 1 determines your interview invites, so if I get screened by Step 1 it doesn't matter anyway right. I figure the only way I'll get an interview is with a sub i (great research and on a path to AOA).

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I take a look at my life and realize there's nothin left.
'Cause I've been getting passed up by every program for so long
That even my momma thinks my chances are gone
But I ain't never crossed a resident or subI that didn't deserve it
Me being treated like a moron because of my sub average Step score, you know you heard it.
I really hate to trip, but some of you fools got interviews already by the loc
I'm just sitting here by my computer watching the time tic toc'
Fool, I'm the type of G who covered all the bases that all my IM/rad/gen surg/FM peeps wanted to be like
But I'm getting smoked by you twats with astronomical Step scores and now I'm on knees in the street light
Keep spending most of my life
Living in a rejected paradise
Been spending most of my life
Living in a rejected paradise
Look at the situation, my below average neurosurg Step score got me facin'
I can't live a normal life, I was raised in luxury
So I gotta be down with the spine surgeons
Too much Uworld wastin, got me chasing dreams
I'm an (un)educated fool with getting matched on my mind
Got 2 in the pocket and all you bastards taking all the interviews putting tears in my eyes
It was all fun and games till trolls came on this website and started banger
And my hopes are all down so don't arouse my anger
I'm a MS4 now, will I live to see PGY 1
The way things are going I don't know
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones with astronomical step scores are no better than you and me
Keep spending most of my life
Living in a rejected paradise
Been spending most of my life
Living in a rejected paradise

If one wanted the best chance to match at Barrow, should he or she do a sub-I there? I don't know anything about how much love they give their rotators. All I know is a lot of people rotate through.

I have had a number of messages regarding the overall tone, and some specific foul language used on this forum recently.
Our goal here is to enable free exchange of ideas and information. The upside of anonimity is it allows people to speek freely. The downside is they may say things we would rather not hear.
With that in mind, please keep it professional. Anyone from middle school students to tenured professors and chairmen to government officials read these posts. Yes, we all feel immature sometimes, no, the interview invite notice thread is not the place to do it.
If it helps you to decide if you should post, imagine at your birthday (in front of your gram gram) or every interview you have, you are given a list of your post history and you have to read them out loud.
Thank you for your cooperation.
