A profile I found online

He has 33 publications and is only a third year student!


I have seen a number of such applicants online, he is one of many. They are like machines. 

How does one compete against such candidates? How it is possible to publish basically a paper every two weeks??

Many of you are going to COPE and say, "B-b-b-but muh interpersonal skills is better". But...is that really true? 

What do I do, anons?

Anyone know what the dress code is supposed to be for guys on these late afternoon meet and greets the day before actual interview day?

Seems a bit unfair that she went on 3 “home” sub-I’s at separate Mayo locations.

So I was browsing online and came across all these "Research Fellows" at Mayo Clinic. They all had like 50+ publications. HOWEVER, NONE OF THEM MATCH. They just apply and reapply and NEVER match?

I looked on their twitter and online presence and ALL make it clear that they want to go into NS. However, virtually NONE of them eventually get into NS. 

Why is that???? Why does MAYO do that???

Have Montefiore and NYU still not sent out any invites? Why they be takin so long?

Hey all, 

Super paranoid applicant here. Just wondering if the fact that one is getting interviews means we do not have a bad letter of rec?? Getting increasingly paranoid as I did not get an invite from where I did my subI however I thought I got along with everyone and they said they’d write a supportive letter. Like 40 people did a subI there so maybe they just are full? I also have much more than the average number of invites right now per the spreadsheet (I’m at 23) and am wondering if programs ever send out invites based on scores etc alone without reading letters?? Would it ever be appropriate to ask your home PD if there is any problem with your letters??? I want to start cancelling some interviews but my confidence is rock bottom based on this subI thing and I’m way too scared to drop any  until I’ve resolved this. Anyone who reviews apps on here with experience?

Really naive med student here. What are some settings where robotics are used in neurosurgery? I honestly can't find much online about centers that do this and for what. Is robotics in neurosurgery expected to grow? If so what are some exciting places it might be going?

I'm at 9 interviews and 2 rejections. Its the third week, but how should I feel about my app.

MASSIVE number of re-applicants from previous cycle

MASSIVE increase in international applicants, due to Biden's pro-immigration visa policies

MASSIVE increase in interviewing because of virtual zoom interviews

MASSIVE increase in student loans and LOTS of desperate applicants. 

In the future:

Pass/Fail means MASSIVE increase in applicants because of a lack of USMLE filter

Things are going to get really bad. Top applicants are scrambling or can't match. Lots of applicants never end up matching even in family medicine. Things are getting real, real bad out their.
