Programs which allow enfolded fellowship elsewhere

Which neurosurgery residency programs allow you to complete an enfolded fellowship at another institution, during your 7 years?

Do a lot of programs call applicants this month? What has been your experience?

  Baylor?
Posted by: Guest - 01-31-2021, 02:46 PM - Forum: General interest - Replies (26)

Hey everyone,

How is Baylor as a program, both operatively and research wise? I understand they increased their resident pool to 4 this year. Will this program set you up for a career in academia?

Is there anyone there who regularly does awake craniotomies?

Let's hear people's thoughts regarding this year. Most impressive and least impressive programs through this cycle.

Alrighty, the interview season is winding down. Let's hear the weirdest experiences people have had.

Attending gaffes, resident slips, PA/NP input, neurologist interviews, it's all fair game. Good luck to all this cycle!

Are more programs going to do second looks this year since they can be virtual instead of in person?

  Match Day Weirdness

My classmates and I can’t decide if it’s more likely that match day will end up with a lot of people in seemingly random programs or if everyone is more likely to just end up at their home institution if they have one at their school.

Not just NES but all of the competitive specialties that take super small numbers for new resident classes.

What do u all think

  Having a family during residency
Posted by: Guest - 01-22-2021, 09:57 PM - Forum: General resident issues - Replies (8)

I’m MS2 and am working toward a neurosurgery residency spot. My wife is concerned about what it will be like for her when we hopefully have kids one day, and our “ideal” age is toward the end of Med school/beginning of residency

Am I just naive in thinking it’s doable? Are there any advice you have?

I’ve asked residents about this at my home program but I kind of feel like I may get a more candid reply anonymously.
