  Most cush residency?
Posted by: Guest - 09-25-2021, 04:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (71)

I know all NS is hard, but I don't want to flog myself unnecessarily.

So what are the places that are the most cush/least intense?

I know:

Mayo -- all 3 locations seem good
BNI -- I believe so
Cleveland Clinic -- I believe so
Stanford

What other places?

Thank you all so much!

Sorry if I missed this, but is there already an excel file for the 2022 application season? Like previous years.

Best approach to 3rd year AI?
Posted by: Guest - 09-21-2021, 11:30 PM - Forum: Sub-internships - Replies (2)

My surgery clerkship isn't until the end of 3rd year, but I have a chance to take a neurosurgery elective which is essentially an AI in a couple months. I have no prior neurosurgery (or any other surgery) rotations and PD recommended I do this to see if it's the right field for me. Should I wait until after my surgery rotation to do this AI? I feel totally unprepared and am very worried about my performance.

Brutal honesty appreciated. Want to do the best I can do prepare (practice suturing, reading, etc) and not be an undue burden on the team.

Thank you.

Doing research with a PD: CONS?
Posted by: ms1 - 09-19-2021, 11:03 PM - Forum: General interest - Replies (10)

I am thinking of doing NS research with a PD at a mid-tier program.

I know the benefits (get to know a PD).

What what are the cons?  Would it be better to do research with a NS who is not a PD?

If I do a shit job and fuck up, will the PD tell other PDs about me???

PD = program director

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

  Neurosurgeons leaving practice
Posted by: Guest - 09-16-2021, 09:02 PM - Forum: General interest - Replies (20)

Just curious what the impetus seems to be. For example, one of the stanford alumni (Achrol) practiced for about 6 years and is now CMO at some MRI focused ultrasound company.
